These are my notes from tonight's sermon What Name Sermon 7/20/2002
I have uploaded the audio to http://www.onenesspentecostal.org/audio
Matthew 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them
in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
In order to obey Matt 28:19 we must know the singular Name that
Jesus was referring to.
Another place the Bible says: (and I am here only to teach you what
the Bible says and not to promote the party line of any organization)
Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none
other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
A point for your consideration is what would be a better source to
discover the correct "name" to use in water baptism than the Apostles
If we must know which singular "name" to use, then should we
not look and see what the Apostles who heard Jesus speak and
then wrote His words down for us, did themselves?
As an aside, if we can not trust the Apostles then we have
a problem because the only way we have of knowing what Jesus
said is from what the Apostles tell us He said.
There are many examples that prove that the Apostles who heard
Jesus speak Matt 28:19 baptised in Jesus Name and preached Jesus Name
baptism. Who do we believe? The polytheistic trinity preachers,
or Jesus hand picked Apostles? Also consider that the "three person"
baptizm of the trinitarian really does establish their polytheism
Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every
one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and
ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
People accuse the real Christians of being hung up on only one verse,
but if you don't obey Acts 2:38 it really won't matter what you do
with the rest of the verses.
Acts 8:12 But when they believed Philip preaching the things
concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they
were baptized, both men and women.
How were they baptized who believed about the singular name?
Acts 8:16 (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they
were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)
Paul told some people to believe on Jesus, then...
Acts 19:5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of
the Lord Jesus.
Colossians 3:17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the
name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
Look at that verse. Makes you wonder why the trinitarian
false-christians don't teach that "God" and "Father" are two
separate persons, eh?
2 Thessalonians 1:12 That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be
glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God
and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Now in that verse they do try to teach two separate persons.
Note that the verse is really saying that Jesus Christ is God
and the Lord.
