Open Question To Mormons Concerning Biblical New Testament Salvation

(1/1)

Bro. Hood:
Over the last couple of years I have had the pleasure of entertaining some 10 "Elders" and leaders of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (aka Mormons) in Biblical discussions on various issues of doctrines. I have spoken with many representatives from the LDS, all the way up to revered theologians of the neo-pagan movement.  Here is part one of some notes that I have used in my witnessing to Mormons, and have even been successful of pulling one "out of the fire with the very smell of smoke on his garment".

NEW TESTAMENT APOSTOLIC SALVATION OUTLINED IN THE BOOK OF MORMON

The Book of Mormon is revered by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints as Scripture in equality of authority as the Holy Bible, and in superiority to the Bible in accuracy.  In fact, matters of interpretation of the Bible are based solely on definitions and outlines found within the Book of Mormon, Pearl of Great Price (A light history of the early Mormon Church, Joseph Smith, and unfinished portions of "aincent copies" of the book of Matthew and a book titled the book of Abraham), and the Doctrine and Covenants (a history of official declarations and proclimations of doctrine and direction given by various leaders of the First Presidency of the LDS).

However, it is somewhat commical that the Book of Mormon, Pearl of Great Price, and Doctrine and Covenants contradict not only the Bible, but also themselves!  Consider this.  It is foundational Mormon teaching that baptism is to be preformed in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, that the baptism of the Holy Spirit is confered only by the laying on of certain Elders hands (called Priesthood by some, and actuall Spirit birth by others), and that God is undeniably THREE HUMAN PERSONAGES.  These things you will find clearly in the Doctrine and Covenants and Pearl of Great Price.

But, looking simply into the pages of the Book of Mormon, you will find these vast contradictions.

Baptism in the name of Jesus Christ only:
2 Nephi 9:23; 31:11-12; Moroni 7:34; 3 Nephi 26:17, 21; 27:16

Baptism of the Holy Ghost evvidenced by speaking in other tongues:
2 Nephi 31:13-14, 32:2; Mormon 9:7-8, 24; Omni 1:25; 3 Nephi 29:6

The ABSOLUTE ONENESS of the Godhead:
2 Nephi 31:21; Mormon 7:7-8, 9:12; Mosiah 15:1-5; Alma 11:44; Ether 3:16; Mormon 1:10

My open question to all Mormons is how, in light of all these things, can you continue to go on in your religion of Joseph Smith's invention?  Your own sacred writtings contradict each other, and when closely examine, God in His mercy has even allowed SOME WORDS OF TRUTH TO BE MADE AVAILABLE TO YOU that are NOT in contradiction with the Bible, namely that salvation is by Acts 2:38 and that there is but one God as in Deuteronomy 6:4.

I will post again soon with another tool to aid in witnessing to Mormons concerning their doctrine of Priesthood and the eternal longevity of the TRUE Church of Jesus Christ.
